Sweet, stylish and sentimental.
Ethan proposed in our San Diego apartment a week before we moved to Las Vegas. I was extremely surprised but very ready.
Even before Covid I never wanted a huge wedding. We were actually glad to have the excuse to keep our ceremony small without hurting too many feelings. We wanted something simple and sweet where we would be able to enjoy ourselves.
The planning was a process LOL! But the elopement portion was the easiest. Even before Covid I had wanted to have a small ceremony and had been eyeing the ELV IG. Once Covid took a toll I knew it was the best bet and booked – we booked close to a year out too. The planning issues we had were due to our after celebration. It was just very back and forth with capacity regulations and confirmations, it was hard to plan for an event in the future since rules were changing regularly. As the day got closer we were able to figure out dinner plans for 30. We rented the Mint Room in Barry’s Prime at the Circa, which is also were we stayed. That hotel was the best choice for the weekend and everyone who stayed there agreed!
My dress was Justin Alexander and from Bowties Bridal, a local shop. I went in to just try on different style and ended up loving (and buying) the first dress I tried on. I loved the art deco design an that it was different. It was the only one they had plus it was on super sale so I had to get it.
My shoes were Betsey Johnson and I was obsessed. I actually bought my shoes before the dress! I wanted something fun that screamed Vegas, even though we are locals. I knew not many people would see them until later in the night definitely enjoyed strutting my stuff in bedazzled blue bottomed booties.
Ethan got his tuxedo from Friar Tux. We didn’t know what we wanted when we went in but we knew we didn’t want black. After looking at multiple styles/swatches we thought the light blue option would be best. We wanted something that was formal but fun.
– Accidentally giving my new mother-in-law a champagne shower! Oops
– Ethan’s (very old) deaf grandmother saying “kiss my ass” during the ceremony.
– Also that we both mentioned the Lakers in our vows.
Do what YOU want. There were so many people in our ears giving opinions but the day is supposed to be about the couple. We hurt some feelings in regards to the invite list but we have no regrets. The day was easy going and we were able to enjoy it with the people who matter most to us.
