One thing we love about the desert is that no matter what your wedding colors are, the Red Rock Canyon can make anything pop! Nellie and Jack chose to have the most gorgeous spring florals for their elopement and we are absolutely in love!
Peaceful! Beautiful, life-changing, eye-opening!
Jack proposed to me in the UK on our 7th dating anniversary (4/08/2022). We went to Bath, UK which is where Jane Austen spent most of her life. I am a huge fan of hers! Our last day in Bath, Jack took me out to the countryside for a quick hike before our train to Paris that afternoon. We went to Stourhead House and explored the beautiful gardens there. On the estate, there is a structure called The Temple of Apollo. It was in this spot that Jack asked if I knew where we were, and when I took the time to look around, it clicked. Jack had brought me to the filming location of my favorite scene from my favorite movie! The Rain Scene – Pride & Prejudice (Kierra Knightley version – Youtube it; it’s worth the watch)! Jack all of a sudden started quoting the lines that always make me melt from this scene and dropped down to one knee and popped the question!
I get asked all the time if I saw it coming, but, I truly did not! And when people don’t believe me, I show them the pictures from that day proving that I didn’t get my nails done for the trip, I wasn’t wearing a cute hiking outfit, and had no makeup on! After 7 years together, you just accept happiness as spending another day together – engaged or not.
We really wanted nature to be our backdrop; we are happiest on our hiking vacations and wanted to focus on getting married where the air is fresh!
Jack and I have a shared passion of traveling and the outdoors. We have a very ‘less is more’ mentality so we knew from the get-go that we didn’t want a big traditional wedding, but rather, something small, outdoors, with some traditional elements for our families. With his family in Minnesota, and my family in Texas, we knew we wanted to make a trip out of our union and create an experience that everyone would enjoy. A trip to Las Vegas with a small wedding ceremony thrown in the mix was our idea of a perfect time! I found Elopement Las Vegas online and after stalking the IG page for a week, I knew this was the perfect fit for us!
I wanted a boho look for our outdoor ceremony.
My dress is from Lillian West and I just fell in love with everything about it! The lace, low back, silhouette, everything was exactly what I wanted! I didn’t want a veil as I felt everything I tried took away from the dress. My dress consultant pulled this big, pearl headband out and I knew the moment I saw it, it was perfect!
For Jack’s look, we really wanted pay homage to the beautiful places we have hiked and a green suit was where we landed! From the moss and ferns in the Hoh Rain Forest, to the tall pines in Banff, we really wanted to stay connected to the beautiful places that we’ve made wonderful memories at. We also thought it would be a perfect contrast to our Red Rock background.
We bought Jack’s suit from Suit Supply.
